» At each significant stage, the impulse to grow induces a crisis
At each significant stage, the impulse to grow induces a crisis to pry Stagers from our blind obedience to conventional stagnation and to change our loyalty. Yet some Stagers block life’s attempts to enter their bubble for they fear being removed from their families and sent into exile. This fear is well-founded, for growth will sweep them out of the deadened family prison and into the temporary torture of freedom. So instead of surrendering to life’s impulse to heal and change them, potential Stagers reinforce their defences through addiction, denial, and an increased allegiance to work and the family. Such potential Stagers remain wedded to the lies of the clan—not to truth. Their stifled energy ends up shunted into illness, physical or emotional. They would rather die in the family prison than learn to live free in the wilderness.
